A client told me my AI voiceover sounded too robotic for their ad

I was making a short ad for a local bakery and used a text-to-speech tool for the voice. The owner listened and said, 'It sounds like a machine, not like someone who loves our bread.' That hit me hard. I went back and started adding small pauses and changing the speed in certain spots to sound more natural. It took me a few tries, but the new version was much better. Has anyone else gotten feedback like this and found a good way to make AI voices sound warmer?

Actually, that's the whole job.

Understand it might seem that simple from the outside. Having done similar work, I've found the real task is handling all the unexpected problems that come up. The main duty is just the tip of the iceberg. Most of the effort goes into things people never see.

That bakery owner's feedback about sounding like someone who loves the bread is actually really helpful. I've spent hours tweaking inflection points in ElevenLabs to get past that robotic tone. @elizabeth220 has a point about it being the whole job, but what specific tricks did you settle on for the pacing? Was it more about the pauses between sentences or changing speed within a single line?
