A stranger at a coffee shop explained AI ethics in 5 minutes better than my whole course

Last spring I was at a Blue Bottle in Austin waiting for my latte when this older guy at the counter starts talking about the AI art generator I was messing with on my phone. He said, "the problem isn't the machine copying, it's that we never taught it who to credit." That stuck with me because my university seminar spent 3 hours on copyright and I still had no clue. He told me he worked on early image recognition in the 90s and now watches companies skip the hard questions. Has anyone else had a random conversation that made a complex AI topic finally click for them?
