Had to pick between two AI image generators for a client's website project

My client needed custom graphics for their new site, and I was stuck between Midjourney and Stable Diffusion. I went with Midjourney because the style was closer to what they wanted, and it saved me about 15 hours of editing time. The results were solid, but the subscription cost hit the project budget harder than I expected. Anyone have a good rec for a tool that balances quality with a lower monthly fee?

Have you tried DALL-E's API? I found it way cheaper for one-off projects than a full subscription, and the quality is pretty consistent.
