My $60 logic probe beat a $400 oscilloscope for this one job
I was fixing an old CNC controller last month and the signal was dropping randomly, so I assumed I needed the fancy scope to trace it. Turns out a cheap logic probe with a pulse catch mode found the bad optocoupler in about 20 minutes, because it latched onto the glitch that kept slipping past my eye. Has anyone else had cheap test gear outwork the expensive stuff on a specific repair, or am I just lucky?
