My AI art generator spat out a hand with 7 fingers and I actually cried laughing

I was sitting in my living room in Austin last Tuesday, trying to generate a simple portrait for a client project, and the AI gave me a hand with 7 fingers curled in a way that physically hurt to look at, so now I'm wondering if anyone else has had a moment where an AI tool's failure was so absurd it actually helped you see the limits better?

Growing pains are one thing, campbell.david. But when a system consistently fails at basic stuff like hands or eyes for over two years, when does it stop being a "pain" and start being a real limitation? These models are trained on billions of images, right? So why are they still tripping over fundamentals that a kid with a crayon could get right? It makes me wonder if the architecture itself has a ceiling we haven't hit yet, not just a lack of data.
