PSA: Everyone told me to use Midjourney for logo work but I found a better shortcut

I kept hearing that Midjourney was the only way to go for AI generated logos, but after trying it for a client in Denver, I got stuck with weird text and messy shapes. Instead, I used a free tool called Craiyon with a very specific prompt like "simple flat vector logo of a mountain" and then cleaned it up in 15 minutes with GIMP. The whole thing cost me zero dollars and the client actually liked it better because it felt less generic. Has anyone else had better luck with the cheaper AI tools for real design work?

Right, because "simple flat vector logo of a mountain" definitely won't end up looking like every other outdoor brand in Denver. I bet your client didn't even notice the slightly blurry text, they just liked that it wasn't the same "futuristic wolf" everyone else is using. The real shortcut is convincing people that Craiyon and GIMP is "artisanal design" instead of just cheap.

I heard an actual designer say Craiyon is good for moodboards but not final logos.
