Shoutout to the AI tool that saved me 4 hours on a basement layout
I was in Denver last month helping a buddy frame out his basement, and he showed me this AI floor plan tool called Planner 5D. I snapped a pic of the raw space with my phone, told it where the support beams were, and it spit out a full framing layout in maybe 10 minutes. Usually I'd be hunched over graph paper for half a day doing that myself. Anyone else tried something like this for rough layouts or is it just me being old school?

That graph paper hunched over feeling is too real, I switched to digital layouts a few years back.

Hold up, I gotta disagree a little here @tyler_fox41. Ive tried those AI layout tools before and they spit out stuff that looks right but misses basic stuff like how your lumber actually lands on a joist. Last month I ran one for a buddy and it put a bearing wall 6 inches off from where it should be. Digital can be faster but I still keep a pencil and paper on my truck seat for the real thinking parts.
