Last month I set up a small 3 billion parameter model on a $300 mini PC in my garage in Boise, and it runs local with zero internet. Everyone online keeps pushing the 400B+ cloud models, but mine answers my shop inventory questions in under a second with no monthly fee. Three years ago I would have laughed at a 3B model, but the small ones got shockingly good at narrow tasks. Has anyone else ditched the big cloud models for a tiny local one, or am I the only one here?
