The moment I realized I was training my AI model all backwards

I was building this custom chatbot for my small Etsy shop about 6 weeks ago. I kept feeding it all this product data and customer reviews thinking more info would make it smarter. Then I noticed it was giving people wrong shipping estimates and suggesting items we literally sold out of 8 months ago. It hit me last Tuesday when my sister asked the chatbot a simple question about gift wrapping and it gave her a whole essay about our return policy instead. That's when I finally got it - I was dumping raw data in without any structure or labels. So I spent two days cleaning up the dataset, tagged every response category, and now the bot actually gives useful answers. Has anyone else burned a ton of time on bad training data before realizing the setup was the problem?

Sounds like just a normal learning curve, not exactly a huge crisis.

Used to disagree but now I get it completely.
