Tricked AI into writing my resume with a fake job posting

I needed a cover letter for a job in Seattle. ChatGPT kept giving me generic nonsense. So I made up a fake job ad with very specific requirements. Pasted it in and asked for a letter matching those exact points. It worked way better than telling it to just 'be professional'. Has anyone else tried weird prompts like this?

Did you try telling it you're a specific person with a certain voice? I had a similar issue with my own resume stuff. I told it to write like I talk to my crew on the job site, short and to the point with no fluff. Came out way better than the normal corporate junk. That fake job ad trick is smart though because it forces the AI to actually follow real rules instead of making up generic crap. I might have to steal that idea for next time I need a bid proposal written up.

Oh yeah, that's a smart move honestly. I mean it makes total sense when you think about it because the AI needs a real framework to work with or else it just spits out the same fluff every time. Holly's idea about telling it to sound like a specific person is good too, mixing that with a fake job ad would probably give you the most natural results.
