Frozen chicken wings tasted better than fresh ones in the air fryer - tried it 3 times to be sure

I always thought fresh was better for everything. But last month I made wings from frozen for a Super Bowl party because I forgot to thaw them. Put them in at 400 for 25 minutes, flipped halfway. They came out way crispier than the fresh ones I did the week before. Less soggy skin, more crunch. Did I just get lucky or has anyone else noticed this? What's your go-to frozen wing temp?

My friend Karen tried it with barbecue wings from frozen at 375 for 30 minutes and she said they were almost too crispy, like they shattered when you bit them. I've been telling everyone to do frozen wings now, but my husband still insists on thawing them first and then they come out rubbery every time. We actually had a small argument about it last Sunday because he wanted to grill them instead and I had to explain the air fryer was the only way to go. So what's the magic number, are we all just agreeing frozen is the secret or is there something wrong with my fresh wing technique?

Tbh I think the frozen thing works because the ice keeps them moist inside while the outside gets super crispy. It's like how frozen fries are better than fresh cut ones sometimes. Your husband probably just needs to see the light on this one.
