My air fryer tried to launch a frozen chicken nugget across the kitchen yesterday

I opened the basket to check on them and one shot out like a tiny, greasy rocket, hit the ceiling, and stuck for a second before landing in my dog's water bowl. Has anyone else had their air fryer turn into a food cannon, or is mine just possessed?

Oh man, that's the air fryer's secret feature. The frozen food has ice that turns to steam real fast, creating a little pressure bomb. You basically built a mini launch pad for that nugget.

Grabbed a bag of frozen fries out of my air fryer last week and one shot clean across the kitchen, hit @davis.linda right in the coffee mug she was holding. Honestly, Robert's ice to steam theory makes me wonder if I've been missing a whole physics lesson every time I open that thing. Ngl, now I'm half tempted to test it by tossing a single nugget in and filming the launch.

Wait, does the steam thing actually make sense? I thought it was more about the fan blasting it out when you open the basket too fast.
