My dad's 3 word air fryer advice finally clicked
He just said "less oil works" while I was dumping dressing on frozen fries last Tuesday. That hit different because I started using a spray bottle with vinegar and honey on wings, cuts 80g of fat per batch. Has anyone found a good oil free marinade for tofu that actually crisps up?

Dude that cornstarch tip is legit, I tried it on some cauliflower last week and it came out way better than I expected. Not gonna lie, the plain cornstarch coating on tofu sounds like it might work if you let it sit for a bit to dry out before throwing it in. Could even mix in some smoked paprika or onion powder to give it more flavor without burning like honey does. Air fryers are weird like that, you gotta learn what works through trial and error.

Wait "less oil works" is solid advice but tbh I gotta push back on that honey and vinegar thing you mentioned. Honey has sugar that burns at high temps in an air fryer, it'll char your wings way too fast. I use a dry rub on tofu instead - cornstarch with paprika and garlic powder, then spray a thin layer of oil. Not oil free but way less than frying and it actually crisps. If you really want no oil at all, try pressing tofu for 20 mins then coating in plain cornstarch alone. It won't get as crunchy as with oil but it's decent.
