My mom's air fryer tip about shaking halfway through
My mom told me she shakes her air fryer basket every 4 minutes instead of waiting until the halfway point. I tried it on some frozen fries last night and they came out way crispier than usual. Anyone else do quick shakes like that?

Shaking every 4 minutes sounds like a waste of energy. You're opening the air fryer too often and letting all the hot air escape. That just makes the cooking take longer and the food ends up less crispy overall. Plus you're interrupting the machine's cycle for no good reason. Halfway is plenty. Anything more is just fussing over fries that were fine already.

You call it "fussing over fries," so what's the exact line between extra crispy and just overcooked?

Huh, have you actually tried shaking them more often though? I used to only do it halfway like you said, but then I got one of those recipes that said to shake every few minutes and gave it a shot. Turned out way better for me with frozen fries specifically because they were more evenly coated in oil and didn't stick together as much. I mean, sure, some heat escapes, but if you're quick about it I don't think it's a huge deal. Maybe it depends on the air fryer model too, mine heats back up in like 30 seconds anyway.
