My sister's 8-minute rule for chicken thighs, yikes

She swore air frying thighs at 400 for 8 minutes flat was enough, so I tried it at a family BBQ last Sunday and we were chewing raw meat by the pool in Phoenix. Turns out her basket runs 50 degrees hot, so everyone got a lesson in food safety along with their ketchup. Has anyone else trusted a relative's timer and lived to regret it?

Man, my buddy Steve swore his grill's thermometer was spot on. He did a whole rack of ribs at "225" for five hours. They were still stiff as a board and pink inside. Turns out his gauge was stuck at 250 while the actual temp hovered around 180. We all ate dry chicken wings after he rage-quit the ribs and threw those on. He still brings it up every time we fire up the coals.
