My sister's air fryer hack for frozen fries was a total game changer

My sister told me to stop preheating and just toss frozen fries in with a tiny spritz of oil at 400 for 12 minutes. I thought she was nuts cause everything I read said preheat for crispy results. Tried it last Tuesday and they came out perfect, no soggy spots at all. She also said to shake the basket halfway but I forgot and it still worked fine. Anyone else got a shortcut that goes against the usual advice?

Oh man, that reminds me of when I tried to make grilled cheese in a waffle iron and my roommate walked in looking at me like I'd lost it. I still do it every time I'm too lazy to wash a pan, honestly.
