Tried frozen fries in the air fryer without any oil... big mistake

Threw in a batch of frozen crinkle cuts straight from the bag at 400 for 15 minutes and they came out like sawdust. Dry, powdery, no crunch at all. Has anyone else found a trick to get them crispy without spraying oil?

400 degrees for 15 minutes with no oil is basically just hot air blasting dry starch around lol. I mean come on, did you really expect magic? Frozen fries have ice crystals on them, so without a little fat they just steam then turn into powder. A tiny spray of oil or even tossing them with a teaspoon of butter would've made a huge difference. It's not that deep, just toss them next time.
