A lead inspector's 'good enough' call on a flap track still bugs me

He signed off a hairline crack with a file and a pat on my shoulder at the hangar in Pensacola, saying 'she'll fly another year easy,' and I've been going back and forth since whether that's real-world experience or just dangerous thinking, so who else has had a supervisor's shortcut that they still can't decide was right or wrong?

Is it just me, or does this kind of thing happen everywhere, not just in hangars? I mean, my landlord once said a sagging porch step was "fine for another season" and just painted over it. Same energy as your inspector, really. It's that split between what's technically right and what's practical enough to get by, and we all kinda learn to live with it until something actually breaks. But the scary part is when the person above you is the one making that call, you start doubting your own gut. Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather fix something twice than explain why I didn't fix it once.
