Changed my mind about those fancy composite inspection tools after visiting Boeing's facility in Seattle last month
I walked through their main hangar and watched a 20-year veteran catch a hairline crack in a wing spar using nothing but a magnifying glass and a bright light. That guy spotted something their $12,000 ultrasonic scanner missed six months ago at my shop. Has anyone else found that experience beats expensive gear more often than we admit?

Respectfully disagree... that guy found it because of his 20 years, not because of the tool he used.

A guy with 20 years of experience still has to pick the right tool to actually find something, experience alone doesn't make the metal scream louder when it's sitting on top of a coin.
