Hit 10,000 hours and it finally clicked

I did the math last week on my logbook. 10,000 hours of turning wrenches on airplanes. That's about 5 years of full time work. I used to think experience was just knowing where parts go. But at hour 9,800 something changed. I started hearing problems before they happened. A certain whine from a PT6 compressor. The way a hydraulic pump sounds when it's getting weak. I used to chase symptoms. Now I just know. It's like the aircraft talks to me. Did anyone else feel a switch flip at a certain hour count?

10,000 hours is a lot of coffee. That time just builds a weird sixth sense for machines. Can't argue with that kind of pattern recognition.
