I finally stopped fighting the clock on engine changes after a lead in Houston set me straight
Back when I was a green A&P in Houston, an old lead named Dale watched me rush an engine swap on a King Air and told me flat out that the hurry was what was costing me time. I blew him off for a year until I started tracking it, and he was right: my fastest changes were the ones where I slowed down and torqued everything in order instead of jumping around. Now I see new guys doing the same thing I did, racing the logbook, and I just hand them a torque wrench and walk off. Anyone else have a mentor whose advice only made sense like 12 months later?
