Is ziptie tension even real or am I wasting time

I keep seeing guys at Indy just pulling zipties as tight as they can on wire bundles. I was taught to use ziptie pliers and leave a little give so the wires don't get crushed over time. Does that .5mm of extra space actually matter or are we all just overthinking zipties on engine harnesses? What do you do day to day.

Ever had to snip one of those overtightened zipties off a harness and seen the actual damage to the wire jacket underneath?

Oh man @dakota_murphy90, I've had that exact thing happen and it's always worse than you think once you get the snips in there. Found a spot where the jacket was totally rubbed through to the copper once, just from one tight ziptie.
