Last week I got roasted for saying safety wire isn't always the answer

I was working on a Cessna 172's oil filter at KSDL and a guy walks over from the next hangar, starts giving me crap for using a safety clip instead of twisting wire. I told him look, for a quick oil change on a trainer that's gonna get changed again in 50 hours, the clip works fine and saves me 10 minutes. He just shook his head and walked off. Any of you guys use clips on low-critical stuff or am I the only one?

Question whether you really need a 10 minute debate over a safety clip on a trainer.

Man, come ON @matthewsullivan. That's EXACTLY the kind of thinking that gets people hurt. You really think spending 10 minutes to make sure a safety clip is set right is wasted time? I've seen people skip that step and end up with a trainer dropping on their foot or worse. The whole point of having a safety clip is to prevent something bad from happening, and rushing through it just makes the whole thing pointless. If you're not willing to double check the one thing that keeps you safe, then why even bother with the trainer at all?
