Noticed something weird at the Boeing surplus store in Seattle last week

I was digging through bins of old hardware and found a bag of lock washers from a 727 program that were clearly marked for a different bolt size than what fit. Anyone else run into mislabeled parts from these old stock lots before?

1980s 727 lock washers wouldn’t be marked for bolt size like modern hardware, they usually just had a part number that cross-referenced to a specific application lol.

and that's exactly how everything used to work honestly. you'd gotta look up some giant manual just to figure out what part went where, like a scavenger hunt every time something broke. now everything's labeled to death and we still can't find the right washer lol.
