Showerthought: Engine approval waits: safety step or schedule killer?

On overnight checks, waiting for full engine sign-offs can drag on for extra shifts. One crew says it's vital to catch sneaky faults, but another calls it a pointless delay when visual checks pass. How do you guys handle these time sucks?

Seriously, if it looks fine, just sign it off and move on.

What happens when it breaks next month and your signature is on the check? You'll be the one catching heat for it.

Honestly, I'm with Grace on this one. We had a plane stuck for three hours last week waiting on a final engine sign-off after a full visual. The thing looked perfect, ran perfect, but paperwork held the whole line. Tbh it feels like we're just checking boxes for the lawyers sometimes, not for actual safety.
