That cheap borescope from Harbor Freight finally bit me

Bought one of those $60 Cen-Tech borescopes last year to inspect cylinder walls on the job. Worked fine for a few months, then the camera cable snapped inside a piston bore and we had to pull the whole engine apart to get the pieces out. Took me 4 extra hours on a Friday afternoon. Has anyone found a decent budget scope that actually holds up to shop use?

Did you ever look into the DEPSTECH models? I read somewhere they use braided cables that hold up better in tight spaces, and @diana829 might not realize pulling an engine apart on a Friday is more about lost time than OT pay.

I mean is it really the end of the world though? You got four hours of OT on a Friday, sounds like a win to me.
