That crack in the fuselage skin near the cargo door on a 737 last week in Denver took me 4 hours to repair because the doubler got misaligned.

Anybody else run into alignment headaches on these older airframes, or was it just my bad luck with the drill jig slipping around?

Damn, that's a rough one. Four hours on a doubler misalignment is brutal, especially when the jig decides to play games on you. Did you end up having to drill new holes in the skin to match the doubler, or did you have to scrap the doubler and start over with a fresh piece? I always wonder if those older frames have any subtle warping that makes the holes drift differently than the book says.

Nah, I'd trust the jig over a worn-out airframe any day...
