Tried a new torque wrench on a Cessna 172 gearbox yesterday
Old school Snap-on felt off so I grabbed a digital one from the tool crib. Was 8 ft-lbs over spec on the first bolt. Has anyone else had digital gear read differently than beam types?

Buddy of mine stripped a harmonic balancer trusting one of those.

Nah, impact guns on harmonic balancers are a gamble every time. Seen three guys snap bolts doing exactly that, two needed a machine shop to extract the remains. Always use a breaker bar and a socket, not worth the headache.
