That's a clever line but it's not exactly true. The best alarm is the one you hear when you need to hear it. A silent alarm that never goes off means it might not even be working. What good is an alarm that doesn't warn you?

Yeah that line made me look into it once. I read about how the best security systems are the ones that stop trouble before it happens, like cameras that make someone think twice about even trying. A silent alarm that never goes off could mean it scared off every bad guy, you know? But then you also need to know it's working... like a test light or a monthly check. It's a balance.
