Can we talk about the hotel fire alarm panel I saw in a Boise Marriott last month?

The install was so clean, with perfect wire bundling and clear zone labels, that it made me question why we ever accept sloppy work in residential panels.

Does anybody else just see this everywhere now? Like, go look at how a commercial place does its parking lot lines versus a random strip mall. The grocery store has perfect striping, bright paint, clear arrows. But the little plaza with the laundromat? Faded to hell, no one cares. It's the same thing with software too. Corporate apps work smooth, but the small business one you use is a glitchy mess with no updates. When something's in the public eye or managed by a big company, someone's job is on the line. When it's just for us regular people, nobody's looking, so nobody tries.

It's that same split between public and private spaces. We expect a certain standard in a hotel lobby because it's on display, but behind the walls of a home, the care just drops off. It shows a lack of pride in the craft, honestly. That clean install proves it can be done right if someone actually tries. Makes you wonder what else we let slide just because it's out of sight.

My apartment's plumbing is a horror movie back there.
