Confused by homeowners who hide sensors behind furniture

I went to a service call in Austin yesterday and found a door sensor buried under a pile of moving boxes. The homeowner said they forgot it was there, but the system had been showing trouble for two weeks. How does someone who paid for monitoring just forget they have a sensor? I get it, life gets busy, but I had to charge them a trip fee because their own stuff caused the issue. Has anyone else seen this kind of thing happen more since everyone started working from home?
