Got stuck for a full day trying to get a wireless sensor to talk to a 15 year old panel in an old apartment building.

Honestly, spending a whole day on that sounds like a waste of time. That old panel is a dinosaur and you're trying to make it do tricks it was never built for. The building should just upgrade the whole system instead of patching it with new sensors. You're going to run into another problem next week when something else breaks. Why keep throwing effort at tech that's way past its end of life?

Read somewhere that old panels can sometimes work with modern sensors using a simple bridge device.
