Is running wire through the attic really the best way every time?

I started running wires along baseboards with those slim cable covers on a job in Austin last month, and it saved me 3 hours of crawling. But now I'm wondering if I'm cutting corners that'll come back to bite me during a final inspection. Anyone else ever tried this shortcut and regretted it or had it work out fine?

Oh man, that's a tough spot. I totally get the urge to save time though, crawling in an attic in the Texas heat is brutal. I wouldn't bet on a final inspection letting that slide unless it's a really relaxed inspector.
