Just realized the crawl space in that 1920s house off Maple St ate my whole Tuesday
Went out to do a basic panel swap and 4 door sensors, shoulda been a 3 hour job, and it turned into 9 hours because the old wiring was stapled to the joists every 8 inches and half of it crumbled when I touched it. I ran 60 feet of new cable through a gap I could barely fit my shoulder through, and my knee still hurts from kneeling on gravel under the porch. Got the panel done and the customer was cool about it, but I should've quoted it higher and I know it. Anybody else got a rule for when you walk into a pre-war house and just double the labor estimate off the bat?
