Lost a $2,400 control panel install because I skipped the walkthrough with the homeowner's security conscious teenager

Kid showed me the exact spot they wanted the keypad hidden behind a bookshelf right as I was sealing up the last drywall patch on the opposite side of the house.

And honestly I'm with the kid on this one @brooke475. If you're doing a $2400 install and you didn't even bother to ask where they wanted the keypad before you buttoned up the drywall, that's on you not them. Walkthroughs aren't just for the grownups who pay the bills, the kid probably uses the system more than anyone else in the house. You should've grabbed the teenager for five minutes before you even mixed that first bucket of mud. Saves you a costly rework and keeps everyone happy.

So did the kid actually tell you before you started the drywall, or did they just happen to walk by while you were finishing up and mention it?
