POE vs. Wireless for a 4-story apartment complex. POE won by a mile.

I did a complex install last month in Austin, a 4-story apartment building with 22 zones. The customer wanted wireless sensors to save on labor but I pushed for power-over-ethernet on the panels and hardwired contacts. Ended up doing POE because the concrete floors just killed the wireless signal on the 3rd floor test. Had to rerun two runs but the response time was instant compared to the 4 second delay I saw on the wireless gear. Has anyone else run into signal issues with multi-floor concrete builds like that?

Yeah the 4 second delay is brutal, I saw the exact same thing on a 3 story townhouse project last spring. Those concrete floors just eat up the signal like nothing else. Did you end up having to relocate any of the wireless access points after the initial test, or did you just swap out the whole plan from the start?

Wireless saved me a week of labor on a similar job and zero delays.
