Said no way to cellular-only alarms, then a cut landline in Tulsa changed my mind
I spent a good chunk of my install career telling folks a cell radio alone wasn't good enough, that they needed a landline or internet as the main path. Last month a customer out in Tulsa had their line dug up by a contractor doing fiber work, and their old panel was dead silent for two days before anyone noticed. We swapped them to a dual-path cell unit and it caught a door sensor trip the very next week while the internet was also down. That was around $40 in parts and the panel texted the homeowner in under 10 seconds. Turns out I was wrong about how solid LTE coverage is in most neighborhoods now. Anyone else moved most of their installs over to cellular primary, or are you still wiring phone lines in 2024?
