TIL some fire alarm panels have a hidden test mode most guys skip over

I was at a commercial site in Columbus last week and the senior tech showed me a silent walk test function on an old Notifier panel. It saved us from setting off the whole building during lunch rush. Has anyone else found hidden features on panels you thought you knew inside and out?

Yeah man I ran into the same thing on a Simplex panel last year. I had been working on that model for like two years and never knew it had a hidden day test mode. The building manager showed me after I accidentally hit the horn strobes during a meeting. Felt like an idiot but after he showed me it was stupid simple to use. Now I always check for a service manual before I even touch a panel because you never know what kind of shortcuts are buried in there. Saves a ton of headache and keeps the tenants from yelling at you. That Notifier silent walk test is gold too by the way.
