Trimmed 25 feet off a run by flipping the panel upside down

I was installing a wireless panel in a basement in Milwaukee last winter and kept coming up short on wire for the transformer. Not enough slack to reach the outlet without an extension cord which is against code in that one city. After staring at it for 20 minutes I just flipped the panel upside down on the mounting bracket and bam the transformer port was 6 inches lower right next to the outlet. Saved me a trip back to the truck for a longer wire. Has anyone else found a simple orientation trick that fixed a layout problem?

Hold on wait... you flipped the whole panel upside down? Like... the actual mounting bracket and everything? That's wild because I always figured those things had to be oriented a certain way for the wiring to line up with the knockouts and stuff. I guess if it's just a wireless panel with no conduit runs it doesn't matter which way is up though... I never would have thought of that in a million years. Honestly that's pretty genius for a cold basement in Milwaukee, I hate working with stiff wire in the winter.

You know @diana155, I gotta push back on that "genius" take. Flipping a panel upside down is honestly asking for trouble if you ever have to troubleshoot in a hurry. I've had to service a few of these "wireless" setups where someone got creative with orientation, and it's a nightmare trying to figure out which breaker goes where when the labeling is upside down and your brain is already fried from the cold. Plus, most of those breakers are designed with gravity in mind for the internal contacts, so flipping it might mess with the arc path if something trips. I'd rather deal with stiff wire any day than gamble on a hack that could bite you later.
