Found a simple trick to stop my basement window wells from filling with leaves

I got tired of scooping soggy leaves out of my window wells every spring. Tried those plastic covers from Home Depot but they cracked after one winter. Last fall I just cut some sheets of chicken wire to size and bent them into a dome shape over each well. Cost me about 12 bucks total for three windows. The leaves just pile up on top and I brush them off in 30 seconds. Has anyone else found a cheap fix that actually lasts more than a season?

Hold up, four years? That dog must be part bulldozer to flatten a whole aluminum screen like that. Guess the pup wanted a window seat with a view.

That plastic cover from Home Depot" - yeah my buddy tried those too. His lasted maybe one winter before they shattered. But he got this idea from his dad who used to work construction. He took some old aluminum window screening, folded it into a sort of bowl shape, and stuck it in the well. Worked perfect for like four years until his dog decided to sleep on top of it and flattened the whole thing. Still cheaper than buying new plastic covers every season though.
