Hit 100,000 kms on my house's furnace this morning

I was changing the filter this morning and noticed the runtime meter on my furnace read 100,432 hours. That's like 11.5 years of nonstop running since we bought the place back in 2012. We live up near Grande Prairie so it's basically running 7 months straight every winter. I called my HVAC guy just to check if that's normal and he said most furnaces tap out around 150,000 hours. Has anyone else tracked their furnace runtime and found a similar number?

Hold up, 100,000 hours is insane. I had to read that twice to make sure I wasn't seeing things. My own furnace just hit 60,000 and I thought I was pushing it, like I'm basically babysitting the thing with a prayer and a wrench. Have you ever measured the actual runtime versus just the calendar age? I figure with a place way up north you're probably clocking more hours in a single winter than most people do in three years. That thing must be a total workhorse or it's about to start making weird noises.

Yeah the runtime vs calendar age thing is key. My buddy up in Fairbanks has a furnace that's only 12 years old but clocked over 80k hours because it runs basically 9 months straight. Most people's units down here in the lower 48 are running maybe 1500 hours a year tops. That 100k hours is wild but totally realistic for northern climates.
