My basement flood adventure with a rogue washing machine
Came home last Tuesday to find my basement in Edmonton under an inch of water. The washing machine hose had popped off during the spin cycle and just kept pumping. I spent four hours shop-vaccing and pulling up wet carpet before I found a plumber who could come the next day. Has anyone else had a hose failure wreck their basement?

Blame the water pressure regulator, not just the hose.

Oh man, I gotta push back on this one a little lol. I think you're giving the regulator too much credit here. Yeah, a bad regulator can mess with your pressure, but even a good one won't save you if your hose is total garbage. I've seen perfectly fine regulators hooked up to a cheap, flimsy hose and the thing still sprayed everywhere and kinked up like crazy. The hose is the one touching the water day in and day out, rubber gets old and cracks, fittings rust, it's the weak link in my experience. Not saying regulators are perfect, but I've swapped out way more bad hoses than bad regulators over the years.
