That moment my sump pump died in a spring thaw

I came home to about 2 inches of water in my basement near Calgary after a big thaw last April. The sump pump just gave up sometime overnight, no warning, no weird noises beforehand. I spent the whole day with a wet vac and rented a dehumidifier from Home Depot for 3 days cost me around 80 bucks total. Ended up replacing the pump with a higher capacity model from a local plumbing supply place, not the big box store. Anyone have luck with those battery backup sump pumps for peace of mind?

My buddy lost his whole finished basement that way.

Bet he calls it his "indoor pool" now and charges admission.
