Appreciation post: My neighbor on San Mateo showed me how to actually seal my stucco cracks

I was just filling them with caulk from the hardware store for years. He saw me doing it last weekend and asked if I ever used elastomeric sealant. I bought a tube of DAP Flex Seal and tried it on a big crack by my front door. The difference is huge, it actually moves with the house. Anyone else have a go-to product for our stucco out here?

Man, that reminds me of the time I tried to fix a crack above my garage with regular paint. It looked okay for a month, then it just split right open again, worse than before. I ended up having to chip out a whole section because the fix made it so stiff. Learned my lesson about using the right flexible stuff the hard way.

Yeah, that's the thing with cracks, they need to move. I've heard you're supposed to use caulk for the small ones and maybe even tape for bigger ones before you mud over it.
