Back in 2015 I dropped $1,200 on a swamp cooler for my place near UNM

It was a big unit, a Breezair, and I thought it was the smart Albuquerque move. For a few summers it was great, cheap to run and kept the house cool. But after about five years, the constant mineral buildup from our water wrecked the pads and the pump. Fixing it every spring got old and expensive. I finally switched to a regular AC system last year and the difference in consistent cooling is huge. Anyone else make the switch from swamp to refrigerated air and not look back?

The maintenance just wears you down after a while. Switched to a heat pump a couple years ago and that steady cool air is worth every penny.

Our heat pump's been running for three years now, @casey_henderson, and I haven't touched it once.
