I finally gave in and paid $300 for a 'desert-friendly' deck sealant that washed off in the first monsoon rain.
Honestly, I should've known better than to trust a brand that didn't list the actual ingredients, and now I'm out the cash and have to re-sand the whole thing before trying again, so has anyone actually found a sealant that holds up to our summer storms?

Oof, "desert-friendly" is such a meaningless marketing term. Is a deck sealant really that big of a deal? It's just wood outside. Mine's been bare for three years and it's fine, just a little gray. Maybe just let it be and save the cash and the weekend of work.

Oh man, my friend Jen had her deck bare for like 4 years and it started splitting really bad after one monsoon season! She ended up having to replace three whole boards because the rain just soaked right through.

My buddy's deck sealant lasted two whole seasons before it even started to fade.
