Just realized my adobe wall repair method was all wrong after a neighbor stopped by
I had been using regular joint compound to patch cracks in my adobe walls for years. Last spring a neighbor who restores old adobes told me that stuff traps moisture and will make the cracks worse. He showed me how to mix mud with straw and a little lime instead. I tried his method on a 3 foot crack in my living room and it actually blended in perfect. Now I only use traditional adobe mix and my walls look way better. Has anyone else gotten bad advice on adobe repair around here?

Yeah that joint compound trap is real bad for adobe lol. Glad you caught it before the whole wall started crumbling out.
