Rant: The new park on Central made me rethink my whole yard plan
I walked through the new park they just finished on Central near San Mateo. They used these big, flat river rocks for the dry creek bed, not the small gravel I was going to buy. It looked so much better and way less likely to wash away in our summer storms. I was all set to order three cubic yards of pea gravel, but now I'm looking for a place that sells those larger stones. Has anyone found a good local spot for landscaping rock that size?

Albuquerque Rock crushed my budget too, @zara447.

I saw that park last week and had the exact same thought (my sad little gravel plan suddenly looked so cheap). I actually found some decent flat stones at Albuquerque Rock and Landscape, but they were way pricier than I expected. My budget is now crying in the corner next to my unused wheelbarrow.

Yeah see I gotta push back a little here, @gonzalez.vera. I actually went to Albuquerque Rock and got a quote for those flat stones and yeah they're not cheap but they're way thicker than the stuff at the big box stores. The park used stones that are like 2 inches thick and they're set into the ground so they won't budge. I've had pea gravel wash into my neighbor's driveway every monsoon season for three years now. That stuff is basically just expensive dirt once it rains.
