Spent $80 on a fancy caulk gun and it was totally worth it

I got sick of my old caulk gun making a mess every time I tried to seal a window or baseboard. Finally dropped $80 on a smooth-rod dripless one from the supply house, and man what a difference. That thing lays down a perfect bead with no waste, no cleanup nightmare. I saved maybe $30 in caulk alone on my last three bathroom fixtures just from not having to cut and redo bad lines. Has anyone else dropped real money on a specialty tool and felt like it paid for itself quick?

Tbh did you get the dripless one with the thumb release or the one with the pressure relief valve? Because I been looking at those for a minute but I keep seeing mixed reviews about the thumb release wearing out after a year. Let me know how long you had yours before it started acting up. I almost pulled the trigger on a $60 model but backed off when I read about people having to send em back for rebuild kits. Also curious if you used it for anything thicker like construction adhesive or just regular silicone.

Funny how we'll spend hours reading reviews for a $60 tool but won't think twice about buying a $5 coffee every day without checking the price first. That thumb release issue seems like one of those things you don't notice until you really need it to work.
