That 2 dollar caulk smoother beat my $40 tool setup

I spent a year fighting with fancy silicone brushes and metal finishing tools to get clean caulk lines in my bathroom reno. Last month I grabbed one of those cheap plastic corner smoothers from the big box store, the kind that looks like a toy, and it worked better than all of it. The trick is to run it once, then immediately wipe the excess with a wet finger before it skins over. My shower surround in the Nob Hill house finally looks like a pro did it, and I only had to redo one seam out of nine. Has anyone else found a cheap tool that outshines the expensive stuff for tile work or trim?

Same deal with cheap paint scrapers. The 99 cent plastic ones beat the expensive steel ones for getting into corners without gouging the drywall. Bought a fancy multi-tool attachment and never use it now.
